The Feeding

While driving through an unknown town, a young woman is attacked and forced to flee into a dark forest. She eventually comes upon a cabin, located in the middle of the thick wood. As she plans to retrace her steps and get back, more people show up at the cabin. Far away and cut off from the world, the woman wonders if she is imagining some of the strange things around her, or if the group is really there for “the feeding”.

In Part I, we meet our main character, a young woman, who is driving through a remote area we only know to be wooded and cold. Her destination is a mystery except to her.  She stops for food at a local tavern where she meets a man. A man with a black truck. This is where it all begins and this is where it all goes wrong....

Part II: The Woods

In Part II, the young woman is lost in the woods while trying to escape the man named Frank, who peruses her. She is desperate to fight for survival, even if it means rushing deeper into the woods, deeper into the darkness and cold of the night.

Part III: The Cabin

In Part III, the woman is able to make out a shelter in the darkness. She has found The Cabin, resting in the middle of the woods, as if waiting for her. Despite the old age, she discovers the place to be quite cozy and welcoming as she settles in. Perhaps too welcoming...?

Part IV: Silence

In Part IV, The Silence, the stillness around the cabin is haunting, unnerving, and is making the woman increasingly restless. She takes a sleeping pill only to be woken by a loud banging, a desperate sound, breaking the silence. Cautious but hopeful, she rises to investigate.

Part V: Another

 

In Part V, the Woman happens upon a photograph, one that was seemingly taken in the very same cabin many years ago. The picture is old and yellowed, weathered by time.

It is the subject of the picture, another woman, whose gaze is so intense, that it resonates with our narrator. With this, she is ready to leave. She plans her departure and is on the way out when she discovers she is not alone.

Is it another lost soul, like herself...or something else?

Part VI: Kevin

In Part VI, There is another who arrives at the cabin. He is battered and weathered, clearly someone who has been through the trials of the woods. He rests, and while he sleeps, the Woman decides it is safe to retire to her room. While she is drifting off, she becomes aware of a presence. Something dark, something able to shift its shape.

Part VII: Nikki

In Part VII, as Diane and Kevin settle into their new surroundings, there is a screaming heard from outside the cabin, somewhere in the fog and woods. A cry for help. Another person has found their way to the shelter. As the reality of the situation sinks in, Kevin discovers the footprints on the ceiling in the upstairs bedroom. To Diane’s dismay, the footprints are not part of her imagination or a dream. They are as real and unsettling as she feared them to be.

Part VIII: Children’s Rhyme

In Part VIII, Nikki wakes up to tell the two stranded travelers her story. Instead of answering the questions about the cabin, Nikki reveals something deeply unsettling.

Part IX: The Search

In Part IX, The three weary survivors spend yet another night at the cabin. A very unpleasant night and the anxiety is starting to take a toll. However,  the sense of desperation fades a bit, and moods improve when Diane and Kevin come across what they’ve been searching for. 

Could this be the way out? Could they finally break free from the fog and the prison of the trees?

Part X: The One Without One Mark

 

In Part X, sleep is ever-present, nagging, and preventing. The inhabitants of the little cabin wonder why. As Diane wakes up, she finds that Nikki has learned a disturbing truth about the cellar. 

Does the children’s rhyme mean something beyond a folktale, or is it actually a warning?

Part XI: The Lake

 

In Part XI, as Kevin gets more frustrated, the tension grows. Diane wakes up and discovers something very unsettling about Nikki. When the morning comes, they finally discover the lake. Is this their way out, or is it something else entirely? Is the lake their salvation or is it not at all what they thought it would be?

Part XII: The Way Out

In Part XII, the final part: After discovering the monstrosities of the lake, the crew decides to leave and to do so through the woods in which they came. As they make attempts to escape, however, the mood darkens - and their frail sanity begins to crack.  

They will finally find the way out, and they will learn what The Feeding actually is.

Valerie Bogart is often characterized as a Girl Friday in the realm of creative production. After earning her degree in Interior Design, she launched her career as a graphic designer, moonlighting in such endeavors as custom illustration, photojournalism, and community theater. While performing on stage is her first love, she has recently taken a shine to voice acting, as it allows her the opportunity to embrace two of her most favorite things - bringing stories to life and wearing yoga pants.

Her first gig as a voice actor was in a kindergarten classroom, but she has since expanded into an industry with fewer critics.

When she’s not in the studio, you can find her in a library doing genealogical research, bingeing true crime documentaries, or traveling to third world countries on mission trips. Valerie is a vegan and lives in Ohio with her cat, five daughters, two labradors, and one husband.
