Officially founded (according to the state of Massachusetts) in 2017 by Tim Pilleri and Lance Reenstierna. In 2013, the two embarked on an extensive journey, navigating the online landscape, in an attempt to make a documentary about the people obsessed with the disappearance of Maura Murray. As a way to raise awareness for their doc and for Maura’s case, they launched their first podcast, Missing Maura Murray, in 2015. They found unexpected success in the true-crime podcast genre with that show - which eventually led to the Oxygen Network’s production of The Disappearance of Maura Murray. Just over a year later, as a way to grow and bring attention to other missing persons and cold cases, they created Crawlspace, a show that takes deep dives into a number of unsolved crimes and mysteries. Jeff graduated from The Recording Workshop in Chillicothe, Ohio in 1993, and has worked as a full-time engineer ever since for multi-million dollar studios, and major producers and record labels. He has clients all over the world. In 2000, Jeff assumed the position of Chief Engineer at Island Bound Music Publishing in Nashville, Tennessee. Jeff owned Cylo Recording Studio on Nashville’s Music Row from 2004-2006. From there he free-lanced at Emerald/Masterfonics Recording Studios until 2010 before moving on to serve as Chief Engineer at Castle Recording Studio (it really is in a Castle, and everyone from Johnny Cash to Culture Club has worked there!) until 2012. In addition to operating Sta-Level Recording Studio, Jeff travels throughout the year as needed to accommodate artists who are unable to make it to Akron, or those who wish to make use of a larger facility or specific studio. As a reporter for Cleveland Scene, he uncovered new clues and suspects in the cold-case murder of Amy Mihaljevic. His work led to the successful closure of the Tina Harmon case in 2009. He spent months researching the Amanda Berry and Gina DeJesus abductions when the girls were still missing and is haunted by the fact that he had Castro’s name in his notes. His true-crime writing has been featured in the Best American Crime Reporting anthology. His selection was the first true crime article to use a dream sequence as a narrative device. Renner has always been interested in filmmaking, as well. In 2004, Renner directed a short film based on the Stephen King story, All That You Love Will Be Carried Away. King sold him the rights for $1. The movie starred Joe Bob Briggs and the late-great Harvey Pekar. It premiered at the 2005 Montreal World Film Festival. Later that same year, Renner directed a documentary about the influence of J.D. Salinger’s Catcher in the Rye. The adventure culminated in a short meeting between Renner and the reclusive author at his home in New Hampshire.
